There are few pests more annoying than flies!  The most complained about species, due to their sheer volume, are Clusterflies.

Clusterflies:  Because clusterflies over-winter in such huge numbers (usually in loft spaces and window frames) they are usually the source of sudden, often dramatic, infestations in spring.  Clusterflies are easiest dealt with during the colder, dormant, months.

MORE COMMON FLY SPECIES:

The Blue Bottle, Lesser Housefly and Greater Housefly all transmit disease, but there are other primary species that we may encounter at different times of year, all of which should be controlled and eliminated where practicable.

Biting house flies:  More and more reports are being received from across the county of house flies that bite!  All of the common species so far mentioned are physiologically incapable of biting. . .  they simply do not have the mouthparts.  What is causing this distressing problem is the Stable Fly.

Almost indistinguishable from the common housefly to the naked eye, the Stable Fly (also known as the Barn or Dog Fly), unlike most members of the family Muscidae, are blood feeders.  Now found worldwide, the species is considered to be of Eurasian origin and is spreading as a direct consequence of a warming climate.

insects

carpet beetles & fleas

Although ARD regularly treat cockroaches, ants and bed bugs in domestic environments, by far the most requested insect pest treatment are for carpet beetles (the damage is done by their larvae, shown above) and cat or dog fleas.  The nature of insect infestations means that a property will require room by room treatment to prevent a re-occurence.

pet safety

Pesticides for household insects are applied at very low concentrations, powerful enough to kill small insects effectively, but posing little or no health threat to people or pets.  Dave will always advise on the day, but the best strategy is to keep pets away from any treated surface until they are completely dry. . .  approximately 1 to 2 hours.
